Remove Annoying Admin Notifications With This Awesome Plugin
WordPress is a pretty awesome tool. It’s well developed and has a lot of great features out-of-the-box. But some of the baked in features allow for developers to include bits that, frankly, I find annoying. I’ll tell you about one such annoyance.
Admin notices. You know what they are! They are the stack of notices you see at the top of your admin dashboard and on every other admin page. When a user logs in to their site they are bombarded with all sorts of notifications.
One of the things that I’ve done is to simply hide them with this code snippet:
And that’s a quick fix or a band-aid if you will. There are some other plugins that will do the job worth checking out.
I was at WordCamp San Diego this past weekend and Andy Fragen someone (I’m forgetting their name) told me about Barry Kooij‘s nifty free plugin called WP Notification Center. Barry has created a number of useful plugins I use all the time when building out sites such as What the File (WTF) and Related Posts for WP.
All you have to do is install it and activate and BOOM you are done!
WP Notification Center basically takes your admin notifications and places them into a notification in your admin bar. You will see how many notifications there are and then just hover over the notification to see your notices. It’s pretty sweet.
It looks like this:
I love this plugin and I think it’s a great solution to the annoying admin notifications problem that has cropped up. It’s more of a nuisance than an actual problem, but Kooij’s plugin definitely helps sort this issue out for me.
If you use this plugin, be sure to give props to Mr. Kooij by hitting him up on Twitter or dropping a review on his plugin!

So now I’m just someone Alex? 🙁
Look, my memory is complete shit! I knew an awesome suggestion had to come from an awesome fella. I’ve corrected.
This is exactly what I need. Those notifications just turn into nothingness in my vision because I haven’t read them in so long. Thanks for finding me a solution my heart didn’t believe existed 😛

This is awesome. Thank you!
Garan, I tried the solution to disable the nags and it did not work for me, so this code by Alex worked!
Doesn’t work!
