How do you manage a large enterprise-scale project and move a website from technology platform to another? One task at a time!
Western University of Health Sciences is a prominent medical school, based in Southern California.
Their legacy website management platform had reached its end of life and there was no upgrade path. Left without options, they began to look for other solutions that were robust enough to scale and easy enough for existing content teams to manage.
In addition, the legacy platform was a flat-file CMS that managed content for over 30 different colleges. Each college’s content needed to come over and easily integrate with the chosen platform going forward.
DigiSavvy worked with Western University of Health Sciences to create a complete solution that included:
- Complete WordPress Multisite integration
- Revise Information Architecture
- Website Data and Content Migration to WordPress CMS
- Custom WordPress Development
- Custom Plugin Development
- QA Testing
- Training and more.
It was an intensive project that took nearly a year to complete. After the site migration took place and kinks and bugs were squashed, Western U still has the same functional site and is managed by over 50 different content managers for all of their colleges.
The site is, overall, far more flexible and easier to use. Instead of having one flat site structure, WesternU now has a logical grouping of and management for all of their various college programs via Multisite capabilities.
We also worked on Western U’s Prospective Student’s Website as well.
